Back in November 2015 I traveled to Spain and I had the privilege to study with Master Flamenco singer, Esperanza Fernandez in Seville. She was in New York this weekend to perform with Gonzalo Rubalcaba and teach master classes. I was in her class this Friday and it did not disappoint, in fact it was an amazing experience. We learned Palmas (hand claps), Bulerias and Tientos. These are very difficult genres in Flamenco singing. Clearly this is a life long study, but she had us singing complicated rhythms in 10 minutes. Fun was had by all and I can't wait until she returns to New York.
